St Andrew’s Night: Photos!

Thank you to everyone who attended, took photos and helped with our St Andrew’s Night celebration on the 30th of November. We had a great time eating stovies, listening to live Scottish music and dancing. We hope you had a great time too and we hope you learned some new ceilidh dances!

Halloween 2017

We had a great day today at the School of English. Several classes discussed Halloween, our Advanced class went “guising” around different classes, and our Advanced tutor, Richard, brought in apples so that we could try apple bobbing/”dooking for apples”, as we say in Scotland.

We hope everyone had a great time! Thanks to our tutors, especially Richard, for helping create our Halloween themed lessons.

Languages around the world

Yesterday, we celebrated languages from all around the world! We celebrated our own version of last Tuesdays’s European Languages Day, making it into a day for International Languages instead!
We had some great activities, including:
1. Matching the flags to their countries
2. Writing about the country you’re from
3. Drawing a picture of yourself and writing the languages you speak
4. Identifying the language from a short sentence in that language

We also had other activities, like creating sentences from German words and trying out bilingual Arabic-English books! We had a great time, and we hope you did too.

Would you like to tell us something about your home country or language? Please tell us in the comments!

Summer School 2017

Unfortunately, Summer School has ended. We had a great time and we hope you did too! Activities ranged from discussions on “the best job in the world” and culture shock to murder mysteries and business simulators. We learned about Scottish culture and history and students shared their experiences with us – we even had an in-class performance of a beautiful traditional song from one of our Intermediate students! We hope you enjoyed Summer School as much as we did, and we hope to see many of you return alongside some new faces to our classes this term!

Gabriel’s Fantastic Fruit Creations!

Take a look at these amazing edible creations, made by our student and culinary artist Gabriel! Carved entirely from fruit, these fantastic displays almost look too good to eat, and would make a great centrepiece for party or special occasion.

If you’d like to see more of Gabriel’s work, check out his Facebook page here, or email carvedfruits@gmail.com for more information.

International Supper and Ceilidh 2017!
